| Birth Control Pills Help Migraines |
|
There are millions of women in the United States who have to suffer with the pain of migraines.
Some women get them so bad that they are unable to move or function for the entire day. From the 24 million women who have migraines, about half are triggered every month by menstrual hormones. Some women have found relief with a new birth control pill called Seasonal. Women on Seasonal only have 4 periods per year, which means fewer migraines. Dr. Carolyn Bernstein says that by using Seasonal “you're also providing women with a stable amount of hormones on a daily basis". Dr. Bernstein has prescribed Seasonal to all ages of women and while it does work for some, she warns that it is not for everyone. She has to ask questions about family history and their own personal history. Various experts have said that Seasonal is only for women in good health with no history of high blood pressure. It should not be used with people who have migraines or any other neurological problems. While Seasonal does work, it is not the only birth control pill that can help women who suffer from menstrual migraines. If you think that you may be a candidate for this type of treatment then talk with your doctor and get a prescription. To read the entire article, click here . |
