New Batch of Pills Eliminate Periods  E-mail
Women are now able to take new low-dose birth control pills and hormonal contraceptives to get rid of their periods.  Many women don’t want to be bothered with the mental and physical effects of a monthly menstrual cycle.

Many doctors now believe that suppressing menstruation is in a women’s best interest.  With new pills like Seasonale and hormonal contraceptives like Nuvaring, it is now possible to eliminate periods completely.

The Seasonale birth control pill limits periods to four times a year and the first continuous-use birth control pill, Lybrel will soon be on the market.

Some women have been getting extra prescriptions on their birth control pills so that they could stay on the pills without taking a 7-day break as with normal birth control pills.

There are some physicians that disagree with menstrual suppression because they don’t know the long-term effects.  The ones that say it is completely safe and normal argue that the periods a women experience’s on the regular 21-day birth control are not real periods.  They are just induced by hormones to replicate a normal period.
